Northwest Health Foundation seeks to advance, support, and promote health in Oregon and southwest Washington.
By providing grants to initiatives, forming partnerships with health and community leaders, and advocating for policy change, we are furthering our vision of giving every person the opportunity to lead a healthy life.
…but that's just the basics. In truth, Northwest Health Foundation is a thriving, multi-faceted community that contains members from every walk of life, pursuing and nurturing a wide variety of health initiatives to better our communities, our states, and our region. We have a vision for health, and our grants, partnerships, and advocacy form a foundation for action.
But what does that mean?
NWHF has a vision for health.
A vision is what you see ahead: Not only where you're going, but how you get there, too. A vision provides direction, momentum, and clarity. At Northwest Health Foundation, we know that health is more than healthcare. Health is a state of physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being, not just the absence of disease, and we have a vision of health for everyone. We believe in heath equity––that all people should have equal access and opportunity for a basic standard of health––and we have the tools to support the people, programs, and policies to achieve a shared vision of better health and a brighter future.
NWHF is making a foundation for action.
As a strategic, engaged, and values-driven organization, our role in the community is to inspire and nurture efforts which have the capacity and potential to improve health for everyone. We accomplish this through three primary avenues: grant making, community building, and advocacy, and in all our operations, we place transparency, credibility, and accountability first and foremost.
In our efforts to realize our vision of health, and establish a foundation for action, we are at our most effective when we provide an environment for community organizations and their members to come together and engage in conversation around common themes, and to produce strategies and results that will advance the common good.
