Northwest Health Foundation seeks to advance, support, and promote health in Oregon and southwest Washington.
By providing grants to initiatives, forming partnerships with health and community leaders, and advocating for policy change, we are furthering our vision of giving every person the opportunity to lead a healthy life.
NWHF is a thriving, multi-faceted organization comprised of members from every walk of life, pursuing and nurturing initiatives to better the health of our communities, our states, and our region. We have a vision for health, and our grants, partnerships, and advocacy form a foundation for action.
But what does that mean?
NWHF has a vision for health.
A vision is what you see ahead: Not only where you’re going, but how you get there, too. A vision provides direction, momentum, and clarity. At Northwest Health Foundation, we know that health is more than healthcare. Health is a state of physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being, not just the absence of illness, and we have a vision of health for everyone. We believe in health equity — that opportunities for health should be available and accessible to everyone — and we support the people, programs, and policies that help us achieve a shared vision of better health and a brighter future.
NWHF is making a foundation for action.
As a strategic, engaged, and values-driven organization, our role in the community is to inspire and nurture efforts that have the capacity and potential to improve health for everyone. We accomplish this through three primary avenues: grant making, community building, and advocacy, and in all our operations, we place transparency, credibility, and accountability first and foremost.
To achieve our vision for health and establish a foundation for action, we are most effective when supporting the conditions for community organizations and members to develop common goals, and produce strategies and results that improve the lives of everyone.
