Spenser Belch is one of Northwest Health Foundation's summer interns. His goal this summer is to continue developing his professional skills and add to his experience. He plans to use this opportunity to understand more about how accounting principles apply to nonprofit management.
Spenser recently earned an associate's degree in business from Portland Community College. He's been accepted to the University of Oregon and Portland State University for undergraduate studies. Whichever school he chooses, he will pursue a double major in business and psychology, with hopes of going to graduate school to pursue a PsyD (Doctor of Psychology).
Before his internship at NWHF, Spenser spent six months working as a bookkeeper for Tailored Business Solutions. He's also been fortunate to intern in the finance sector, working for the City of Portland Bureau of Development Services. He even spent a summer in medical records and billing at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine.
Spenser grew up just outside of Hillsboro, Oregon and graduated from Century High School. Outside of the office and classroom, he moonlights as an umpire for the local youth and high school-level baseball organizations in both Multnomah and Washington counties. His hobbies include training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. (He was recently awarded his blue belt.) He also enjoys taking his dog for walks along the waterfront and is a huge movie buff. At home, he is an expecting father. His daughter is due on August 18, and he couldn't be more excited.
