2025 Year in Review
Justice Reinvestment Equity Program grantees attended a convening at Portland State University’s Native American Student and Community Center
We look back at 2025 with so many emotions, running the gamut from sadness to hope.
At Northwest Health Foundation, we believe everyone deserves the freedom to lead a healthy life. That freedom depends on free and fair elections, on having a voice and a seat in community and government, and on the safety and security to move around our neighborhoods freely.
The freedom to lead a healthy life is currently jeopardized—by HR1 and state budget cuts, the continued dehumanizing campaign against immigrant families, and the federal administration’s threat to deploy federal agents and National Guard troops in our neighborhoods.
But we find hope in how our communities are responding. In 2025, Protect Oregon set up statewide infrastructure to train Oregonians on resisting authoritarianism. PCUN organized the first of several “Day without an Immigrant” protests, and many of our grantees laid the groundwork for 2026 elections.
We also found pockets of joy and plenty of purpose:
So, we’ll keep at it.
